Has anyone else had this problem? I had a niggly tooth - sensitive to heat and cold - but today it has developed into something sooo painful! Although it is in a top right tooth, the pain goes in a ring round all my top and bottom right teeth, up to my eye and even down to my shoulder blade! How is it possible to hurt so much?

I've taken tramadol, dabbed clove oil on and will have to grin and bear it till Monday I suppose. Anyone got any better remedies for dental pain??? Sad xx Ailsa

Hi Ailsa

So sorry you are suffering with tooth ache, I sympathise totally having had a lot of trouble with my teeth and WHY does it always seem to come on over the weekend!

I wish I had a magic solution to your problem but you seem to be doing all I can think of. I think if you are desperate there is an out of hours dental service at some hospitals but they will probably only prescribe pain killers.

Hope you soon get sorted

Best Wishes

Sue

Dear Ailsa
I had an abscess last year and the pain was excruciating. I was given antibiotics and then had to have it drained a week later (which I'm pleased to say only stung a tiny bit). I was told that a dental abscess is classed as an emergency and that it should always be possible to get an out of hours prescription for the antibiotics. Once I started mine the pain had subsided considerably within 2 days. Sympathy to you and I hope you get it sorted very soon. From Naomi.

please get to a dentist and get it sorted, i have a full set of dentures now but all my teeth had abscesses, long story, i took lock jaw at one point as i waited till a mon for surgery to open, the pain was like you all over my face and i had a red line from my ear down my neck, worst thing ever,i couldnt open my mouth and used a straw for food and drinking, the dentist just looked at me and i was sent straight to A&E, they got in with a very sharp thing and burst my gum,it stank so bad but withing 20min i could open my mouth,i was on antibiotics for week,i lost the tooth but did learn not to put toothache off for long, thats my dentil story, hope you are now sorted.xx

Thanks everyone - it has more or less gone away but I had the worst migraine I've ever had from Sat night till this morning. Nothing worked on it and the only comfort was lying still with my eyes shut.

I did get an appointment for Weds morning though. I feel that there is some infection somewhere so hopefully they can find it. Will I be ok to have dental treatment with it being 2 and a half weeks since Rituximab? I'm still signed off till the end of the week and can't believe I will feel normal and able to work again!

xx Ailsa

Hi Ailsa, just caught this thread and wanted to add my sympathies. Ive been off this week with a dental abcess and like you say the pain is undescribable! We all know what pain is with this horrible thing we have, but oh my! Ive been on 8 co-codamol for 3 days and the antibiotics are just kicking in now!

I dont know anything about the rixumitab but just know that Ive had to stop mx for a couple of weeks. Have you spoken to your rheummy nurse?

Hope that you are feeling better soon

Love Heather xxxx

Hello Ailsa,

Just caught up on this post. So sorry to hear of your tooth abcess Ailsa.

My Husband had a tooth abcess and I can see him now punching the floor and tears in his eyes, and he is
6' 2" and 18 stone. So feel for you.

I hope by now you are feeling much better. Has the RTX worked yet ?

Rose

I have just read your post and found it interesting that you said it affected your eye. Can you pinpoint the pain exactly? Ihave had pain like it and have been up all night with it only to discover it was sinus problems. tap yor cheek under your eye if it hurts it could be sinus. If not I do sympathise you as any teeth I have lost (7 in total) have all been abcesses.
